Cover to the Caprica pilot soundtrack.

My free copy of the Caprica soundtrack from Fandomania arrived today. I am listening to it as I write this, and what I can tell you is that the music is stellar. It is a minimalistic, somber score with emotional depth, like the Caprica pilot itself. The music conveys the emotional, rotting decadence of the technological and hedonistic Caprican people with the tragedy experienced by Joseph Adama and Daniel Graystone, as well as the creation of the first “Cybernetic Life Form Node” (Cylon).

Bear McCreary and the Hollywood Symphony Orchestra were able to create something quite wonderful here. While the music is not action packed the likes of BSG’s “Wander My Friends,” “Storming New Caprica,” “Battle of the Asteroid,” or “Prelude to War,” Caprica is able to do what a good soundtrack should: compliment the story that is being told and tie the story into the pre-existing universe of the re-imagined BSG. In this, McCreary is successful; the track entitled “Cybernetic Life Form Node” ties in very well with Richard Gibbs’s “Inbound” score from the Miniseries and other leitmotifs from this universe’s “future.” After listening to it, it automatically “clicked” in my head that this unique story was in the same universe.

Very cool. Get the CD and listen.

It puts a smile on my face to know that the long work of loving, dedicated fans is noticed by the folks on the higher planes of existence.

For those of you wondering, I will not be attending the Battlestar Galactica auction in Pasadena, as I have many work and personal items I must deal with… Also, my place is no longer there anyway; the situation has changed and it would be extremely awkward for me being there for reasons that, frankly, are of no concern to anyone.

It was an honor serving with all of you in the trenches and a pleasure meeting everyone who I have encountered during the auction of Battlestar Galactica‘s assets. I bid you all farewell and look forward to crossing paths with a majority of you in the future, for I have met many great people who make this world a better place during these trying times.

So to everyone reading this, good night and good luck. And, as Richard “Apollo/Tom Zarek” Hatch likes to say, “Keep the faith.”

Plain, Simple Joe

1. Anna Nicole Smith is, well, fucking dead; and,
2. the father(s) of Anna Nicole Smith’s bastard progeny are coming out of the wormwood.

So, instead of focusing on more pertinent matters, like the fact that soldiers are dying in Vietnam Deux, the 24-hour news networks are hammering the Anna Nicole thing ad nauseum.

If there is a purpose behind those scrolling marquees on the bottom of the fucking boob tube’s screen, it’s for “news” like the one above. And that’s being needlessly generous.
This “news” is the reason why we have this section of the media called the “tabloid”. Tabloids are the news that people may like to read about, but news which is not pertinent to our, um, society. (Except perhaps a society of degenerates who’ve permitted scum like Anna Nicole Smith to ascend to such heights in the first place.)
I know people who are angry about this, but if those who are angry at this coverage bypass your emotions for a minute, the reason why Anna Nicole is being blasted on Faux News or CNN is so that we can be distracted from the problems in der Mutterland.

So let the “legacy” of Anna Nicole Smith die with the rest of her rotting carcass and focus on saving the country from its self-destructive tendancies.

Fortunately, there are a few things that keep my sanity (and my will to get up every morning), one of them Battlestar Wiki and the fact that I will very likely be leaving Fucking Best Buy after January.

The source of my irritation is the general idiocy that Best Buy rolls out during this time of year. For one… shit… I can’t even write it because I’ll violate all that confidentiality garbage. Therefore, I’m not going into details, but let’s just say that my position is becoming more and more of a joke riddled with contradictions and paradigm shifts that my intellectual mind cannot (and likely will never) grasp. Right now, my left and right sides of my brain are about to revolt.

I just don’t get it. I don’t and I’m not sorry that I don’t. Because it doesn’t make any logical sense what so ever.

Because it’s all fucking stupidity given form.

Yet, it’s my fault as well, because I should have walked three years ago. What a waste. What a fucking waste. And that angers me more than anything else.

The only thing keeping me at Worst Buy is the health insurance. That and the fact that I do care for the people I work with on the daily basis — they give me a reason why I even bother to walk through those doors on a daily basis.

Fortunately, I’ve been saving up money for college, working jobs on the side and shit like that. So I see books and long nights studying in my future.

And that makes me happier than a pig in its own shit.

So say we all.

The sad part about it was that this mother had a child with her, and apparently some male companion. That’s the part that saddens me. I was almost tempted to pull out my SLVR and snap a picture of this cunt.

For posterity and for humiliation. (I was seriously thinking of creating what would be a cross between “The Letterman List” and the “FBI’s 10 Most Wanted” thing to post here. Not that I believe anyone would read such a thing, but public flogging and humiliation has its uses.)

But then I saw the child. Crying. The man — who I assume was the child’s father — was there too, trying to console the little kid. I would say she was between 6 to 9 years of age, roughly 3 to 4 ft.

And that pissed me off more than anything. So I didn’t take the fucking picture.

Think about it, though… How does a kid respect their parent if said parent spits in the face of law and common decency? Really? How?

And that’s emblematic of what’s wrong with this FUBARed country, the lack of parenting.

Speaking of which, what the fuck is with the shoes with the rollers? What? You let your kids buy those things? It’s bad enough that there’s an obesity problem and a problem with apathetic lethargy in this country… what, now you want to encourage it? Don’t bother blaming the shoe manufacturers either. They’re just making this shit because you consume it; remember “supply and demand”?

And then you fuckin’ parents will sue the shoe maufacturer. The lawsuit will not be because of their product, but because you were incompetent and didn’t have the backbone to say “No” to your goddamned kid — a fuckhead that you unfortunately created who wanted to be on the “in crowd” and be a cookie-cutter person like every jabroni in the Western world. Just remember when your fuckup splits their head open after they lost their balance, you are ultimately responsible for the consequences — not the company. So say we all.
